Obituary

John Lee Mottl, son of John L. and Eva Mottl, both deceased, passed away on Sunday, July 16 in Marion, Ohio, after a long battle with cancer.  He was a native Ohioan, born in Bedford in 1953, and was a long time resident of Waldo, Ohio.  John was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Mottl, and a sister, Nora Neuber.  He is survived by his sister, Sally Misencik (Paul Misencik, Sr,) of Reston, Virginia and nieces and nephews: Julie Neuber of Fairfax, Virginia, Karen Misencik of Javea, Spain, and Paul Misencik of Javea, Spain.  John earned a Bachelor's Degree in Geography from Kent State University.  He spent many years working in computer programming before shifting careers to become a realtor.  John was an avid outdoors man, with a passion for camping, fishing, and hunting.  He also was involved in local civic and charitable functions, and especially enjoyed the time he played Santa Claus in the annual Marion, Ohio Christmas Parade.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to National Park Association, ASPCA or a cancer charity of your choice. A memorial gathering, celebrating John's life will be planned in the Fall.
