Edith Ann (Gilliam) Copeland

Edith Ann (Gilliam) Copeland, 75, LaRue, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 4:45 p.m. surrounded by her loving family after a short stay at Heartland of Marion. Edith was born on November 20, 1942 in Mossy Bottom, Pike County, Ky, the daughter of the late Dewey Gilliam and Maudie (Ratliff) Gilliam. On July 16, 1960, she married Gary Copeland in Marion, Ohio. Edith retired from the Elgin Local School District in 2007 having worked as an Assistant Cook at the Middle School in Green Camp. She loved working around all the children that passed through there each day. She is survived by her husband, Gary Copeland of LaRue, a daughter, Renita (Jerry) Houston of LaRue, a daughter, Selena (Freddie) Daughtry of Bradenton, Florida, a son, Jon Copeland of Marion, a sister, Jackie Boyd and a brother, Leo Gilliam, both of Marion. Also surviving are two grand¬daughters, two grandsons and three great-grandsons all of whom she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, one sister and a grandson. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the Ohio Health Hospice and Kindred at Home for their tremendous care and support during their time of need. At her wishes, a private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
