David Wayne Watson, of Marion, passed peacefully at home on May 10, 2023.
He was born on June 20, 1949 to the late Ralph Watson and Marilyn (Grandstaff) Johnson. He graduated from Marion Harding High School in the class of 1967.
He loved reflecting on his time in the military and was very supportive of veterans and their causes. He served in the United States Army (1967-1970) in Germany.
He spent thirty three years with the United States Post Office and loved his work. He was a member in good standing with the National Association of Letter Carriers. He loved his weekly breakfast with fellow retired postal workers and his annual trip to the Indy 500. You would be hard-pressed to find a better construction specialist. He is remembered by many as a "guru of engineering". He built his own Tudor-style house with German influences that many in Marion would recognize as The Castle.
Dave knew no strangers. He was very active and involved with his grandchildren. He was a helper and participated in local food drives for many years, along with offering his construction expertise and other services to anyone he could. An avid traveler, he was a lover of nature and enjoyed the outdoors. He had a great passion for music and was well-versed with many musical eras.
He is preceded in death by both parents, his son Nicholas (Tabie), and brother Richard.
He is survived by sons Andrew and Nathan Watson (Molly); siblings Debbie Bowers (Bill); Jeff Johnson (Amie); grandchildren Felix, Milo, Ellie, and Joie; two nieces Kaylee and Jaelyn ; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and a world of friends, including Susie Keirns and many others.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at the VFW Post 7201 1614 Marion Marysville Road Marion, Ohio 43302 from 12:00 PM- 3:00 PM.
