Betty Jane Humphreys

Betty Jane Claypool Humphreys, 84, of Marion, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Sunday December 01, 2019 after a brief stay at Marion Manor Nursing Home.

Betty was born in Marengo, Ohio on January 19, 1935 to the late Harold K. and Florence Patterson. She is survived by sons; Harold (Brenda) Claypool, Alvin Claypool, Tommy (Missy) Claypool; daughter-in-law Janice Claypool; 11 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild and two very dear friends; Dora and Gloria.

She was preceded in death by a brother; Harold Patterson (Junior); son Harvey Dale Claypool Jr., and also her second Husband Sam Humphreys.

She had married Harvey Dale Claypool Sr. on May 12, 1951 and they raised 4 sons and spent 50 wonderful years together before he passed on February 01, 2001.

All her life, she would get up early and get her day started. You would find her baking something such as a pie or two, cookies, or some sort of candy and we are truly going to miss that. At almost any given time that you would stop and visit her, she would be sitting there crocheting something and she was great at it and quick. Betty loved to get herself all prettied up for the day with matching jewelry and shoes to match her outfit. She had a love for yard sales, and every year she would say, " I'm not having anymore yard sales after this one" and the next summer rolls around and there she is setting up the yard for another yard sale. Everyone knew her love for Elvis music and collecting Elvis memorabilia was a part of her life. She was a member of the American Legion on Bellefontaine Ave., because she liked to go listen to the bands and bake something to take. Betty lived a wonderful life, full of spunk and happiness. Memories with her will carry in our hearts forever.

Calling hours will be held for family and friends on Thursday December 05, 2019 from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM with a service to follow at Edwards Funeral Service 318 Mt. Vernon Ave., Marion, OH 43302 with Pastor Jerry Copley officiating. Burial Services will follow at Chapel Heights Memory Gardens.

The family would like to thank Ohio Health Hospice Team and the nursing staff at Marion Manor for the quality care given to our loved one and also the kindness shown to the family.
