Thomas Michael Kuhar, 73, of Marion, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2025, in his hometown.
Born on July 2, 1952, in Marion, Tom spent his life rooted in the community he loved. He worked for BF Goodrich and remained through two sales of the plant before retiring after 32 years. In addition, he spent over 20 years working part-time at Star Lanes and then Plaza Lanes, combining his professional life with one of his greatest passions—bowling.
Tom had a successful and widely respected bowling career, throwing four 300 games, several 299 games and 700 series, and earning a high series of 816. He earned a spot on several All Star Teams over the years and was a member of Grice's Southpaws, a well-known left-handed team. Additionally, Tom was an avid softball player and a member of the Sim Brothers fast-pitch team that won the Class A State Championship—an accomplishment he cherished. Tom also enjoyed golf and was especially proud of making a hole in one.
Perhaps most of all, Tom will be remembered for his long-standing involvement with Marion Moose Lodge #889, where he was a familiar face, a loyal member, and a true supporter of its mission and community. He served every office and was Governor twice. He also served every office and was District President and an Executive Board Member of the Ohio State Moose Association. Tom earned his Fellowship Degree in 2000 and his Pilgrim Degree of Merit in 2013. Also on the Sports Committee, Tom played in the Moose Men's Golf League and was the Secretary-Treasurer for over 25 years.
On December 7, 1996, Tom married the love of his life, Connie, and together they shared over 22 years of love for each other. Sadly, Connie passed away seven years before Tom, and he was never the same, even continuing to wear his wedding band to the very end.
He is survived by his daughter, Michelle, and grandchildren Kristen (Jessie), Cortlynd (Colleen), Preston (Sydney), and Cole; and step-grandchildren Katelynn, Meranda, Hailey, and Gavin. He was preceded in death by his wife Connie; parents Steven and Ellen Jane; brother Steven Jr.; and step-daughter Sheena.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Edwards Funeral Services on Friday, August 29 between 6pm and 8pm. A Pilgrim Moose Service will be held at 7:45 pm.
