Thomas Wayne Hawkins, affectionately known as "Tom Cat" to his beloved family and friends, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2026, in Columbus, Ohio. Born on July 30, 1955, in Marion, Ohio, Thomas was a cherished soul whose life touched many with warmth, laughter, and unwavering love.

As the second child in a large family of seven, Tom embodied the true spirit of kinship and devotion. He wholeheartedly loved his family and friends, Tom Cat defined himself by living life on his own terms, characterized by spontaneity, lightheartedness, and sense of humor.

An avid fisherman, Tom Cat could often be found by the fishing hole, where his quiet patience and love for nature shone brightly. His love for camping further underscored his deep connection to the outdoors, providing him with solace and joy amid the serenity of nature.

Thomas is survived by a loving circle of siblings: Gary (Brenda) Hawkins, James (Pat) Hawkins, Teresa Hawkins Harrah, Crista Hawkins, and George (Jamie) Hawkins. He is also survived by his daughter, Jennifer and his grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Thomas’s journey on this earth was shaped and supported by those who preceded him, including his parents, George Thomas and Ruth Marie (Rupe) Hawkins, whose memories no doubt reside in his heart, and his older brother Edward Butch Hawkins, whose absence is deeply felt.

"Tom Cat" will be remembered not only as a steadfast brother, father, and a faithful friend but also as a man who found joy in simplicity, love in every relationship, and adventure wherever his spirit took him. His legacy, like the gentle ripples on a tranquil fishing lake, will continue to touch all who knew him.
