Shirley Jean Young

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Shirley Jean Young, who passed away on May 28, 2025, at the age of 74. 

Born in Hamilton, Ohio, Shirley was the beloved wife of the late Cecil Young (d. February 15, 2022); loving mother of Elizabeth Sweeney (David) Knoxville, TN, and Teresa Johnson (Kevin) Marysville, Ohio. She was a cherished grandmother of Erica Martinez, Jacob Combs, Zachary Sweeney (Shelby), Emily Sweeney, and Erin Sweeney; and proud great-grandmother to Aiden and Lily Martinez.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, Carlic Rader and Imagene Rader (née Pollock).

She will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family and friends, her incredible cooking, and her warm, generous spirit. Shirley found joy in quilting, crocheting, watching her favorite westerns and news programs, and always being there for those she loved.

A private memorial service will be held with immediate family to honor her life.
