IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ruthe
Likens
March 24, 1949 – March 18, 2026
Celebration of Life
White Oaks Road Free Will Baptist Church
Starts at 12:00 pm (Eastern time)
Ruthe A. Likens, 76, of Marion, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on March 18, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
She was born on March 24, 1949, in Grimms Landing, West Virginia, to Daniel Tucker and Mary Jane Stanley, both of whom she now joins again in peace.
On August 1, 1987, Ruthe married the love of her life, George Likens, in Gallipolis, West Virginia. For 38 beautiful years, they built a life centered on faith, family, and simple joys. They cherished their trips back to West Virginia to visit loved ones and took great comfort in being part of their church community. Whether it was cheering on a game together or simply spending quiet time side by side, their bond was steady and full of love.
Ruthe devoted much of her life to her work at OhioHealth, where her kindness and dedication touched many. Her servant’s heart extended beyond her career—she faithfully gave her time to help care for and clean her church, never seeking recognition, only wanting to serve.
Her greatest joy in life was her family. She loved deeply and completely, always putting others before herself. Ruthe made it her mission to stay connected to her children and grandchildren, always knowing what was going on in their lives and offering support, encouragement, and love. She gave more than she had, time and time again, and did so with a full heart. She often reminded those around her, “you have to laugh at everything in life,” a reflection of her strength, resilience, and ability to find light even in difficult times.
She found peace in life’s quiet moments, especially sitting by the window, watching and feeding the birds—a simple joy that brought her comfort and happiness.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel Tucker and Mary Jane Stanley; and her siblings, George, Rose, Carrie, Lola, John, and Jessie.
Ruthe leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion in her husband, George Likens; her children, Everett Lewis Mattox Jr. (Susan) and Rosia Marie Clark (David ); and her cherished grandchildren, Jerica (Donovan and Harper), Tyler, and Alexandria. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
She cherished her family deeply and found her greatest happiness in the moments spent with those she loved. Whether through quiet conversations, shared meals, or simply being together, Ruthe created memories that will be held close forever.
Though are hearts are heavy with loss, we find comfort in knowing her love remains with us always.
“blessed are those who morn, for they will be comforted” Mathew 5:4
