Roberta F. Young, of Marion, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, July 9 , 2025. Her demise comes seventy-one years after accepting Jesus.
She was born on July 9, 1948, to Wetzel and Cora Pritt, in Boone County, WVA. She completed her GED in 1974.
Roberta married her high school sweetheart, Clayton Young, on December 7,1963. Their wedding ceremony took place in the same place where their love story would end, which was a funeral home. It was true love for she followed him wherever he went from WVA to Germany. Then, they returned to United States and settled in Ohio to raise their family.
She was a devoted wife and mother. Roberta would occasionally get a job. However, it usually didn’t last very long as she knew that her children needed her at home. After her children grew up, she became a security guard and made the rank of lieutenant. She enjoyed spending time with her family, attending church, teaching Sunday School, and reading. She also enjoyed many crafts such as quilting, plastic canvas, and Tri-Chem painting. What she loved most though was teaching others how to do the crafts that she enjoyed.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Wetzel and Cora Pritt; Stepdad, Walter Backus; Sisters: Dessie Morris, Ruth Pritt, Arlene Perdue, and Mattie Kincaid; Brothers: Charles (Chuck) Pritt, and Vernon Backus; and Grandson, Jerrod Young; 11 great grandchildren and her Son-in-law, John Sparks.
She is survived by her spouse, Clayton Young; Children: Glinda Sparks, Cornelius (Rachel) Young, and Robin (Sherry) Young; 9 Grandchildren: Corey Young, Whitney Young, Becca Sparks, Gail Sparks, Brandon Beckham, Chastity Beckham, Samantha (Hunter) Plybon, Steven Hill and Travis (Charlie) Hill; 17 great grandchildren; 2 sisters: Joetta Hamilton, and Mary Whisman; and 1 brother, Robert Pritt.
