Richard (Dick) Lawrence Bond, age 93 of Marion, OH died peacefully on February 15, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones at Kingston Residence of Marion. He was born on January 24, 1933, to his father, Russell Bond and mother, Cleo (Rizor) Bond. From the age of 2, he, along with his siblings, Betty and Bob, were raised by his Uncle Bill and Aunt (Mom) Wilhelmina (Wilt/Willy) Rizor. Richard graduated from Harding High School in 1951.
As a teenager, Richard worked at Bowe’s Ice Cream Store. After graduation, Richard worked at Tecumseh Products in Marion, Ohio from 1952 to 1953 as a Refrigerator Inspector until he was drafted into the U.S. Army on February 17, 1953, to serve in the Korean War Armed Conflict. During his time in the Army, his duty was to the 265 th Quartermaster Petrol Supply Company. He also managed the local military bar and kept meticulous records and replenished inventory for the bar as well as other military supplies. He has recounted his time in the military and shared he almost lost his life near a mine field, but a fellow serviceman saved his life. His diary from his time in the Army shows that he was counting down every remaining day until his Honorable Discharge, with rank being Cpl (T) on January 7, 1955. He returned to work as a Manager of Material Control at Tecumseh in Marion, Ohio and transferred to the Michigan location until his retirement of 49 ½ years in 2001.
Richard was married to Connie Mae (Cole) Endicott on April 21, 1962, sharing many loving years together until her death on July 5, 2007.
Richard was a proud life long member of The American Legion Post 584. He was on the board for Chapel Heights Memory Gardens. When he was younger, he golfed and bowled on leagues. With Connie, he enjoyed square dancing and later ballroom dancing. He and Connie would enjoy learning new steps, putting on shows for nursing homes, and going to dances in and out of town. They had so much fun and were mesmerizing on the dance floor and won a trophy at a dance contest.
Some weekends he would travel with his wife, Connie, and granddaughter, Kristen, to Ft. Wayne and many libraries researching genealogy for the Bond and Cole families. Through doing genealogy research, he found out that the Bond family included a real James Bond a few generations back.
Dick and his brother, Bob, worked together at several gas stations which resulted in an appreciation of antique automobiles (knowing their make, model, and year).
His children have many great memories of growing up together in a loving home. He loved vacations to Ft. Myers/Sanibel/Captiva Beach with Connie, his kids and their spouses.
After Connie’s departure to heaven, he found love again with Patricia Guliuzza Bender, who was a love from his past. They were married July 21, 2013, sharing their golden years of love. They enjoyed visiting his and Pat’s family, eating out with friends, and enjoying all of their time that they lived and loved together.
Richard relished get-togethers with family and friends for any celebration to meet and gather for wonderful food and conversation. He loved all kinds of food and desserts, but especially Texas Roadhouse, The Jerzee, and his favorite family recipe chocolate cake.
Always willing to support the interests of his grandchildren at various events, he would travel to their 4-H county fair animal shows and exhibits, dance recitals, choir and musical performances, and sporting events.
Richard will be truly missed by all of his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Guliuzza Bond, his daughter, Catherine Bond Eblin (Mark), his grandchildren: Kristen Heindel (Matt), Josh Eblin (Raj Angrish), Ceslie Eblin (Eric Nielsen), Lane Eblin, Taylor Endicott (Alex Plaza), and his great-grandchildren: Cole Denman, Matalie Heindel, and Emmett Plaza.
