Michael Paul Pfleider, age 43, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2026, after a brave and courageous battle with cancer.

Born on October 2, 1982, to James and Dorothy (Spicer) Pfleider, Mike lived a life full of passion and joy. For nearly 25 years, he found his calling on the open road as a dedicated truck driver. Traveling across the country, Mike experienced the beauty of America from behind the wheel, but no place captured his heart quite like Albuquerque, New Mexico - place he loved deeply and dreamed of retiring to one day.

Mike was an ultimate, unapologetic sports fanatic. If there was a ball, a puck, a horse, or a motor involved, Mike was watching. He passionately followed football, NASCAR, basketball, baseball, hockey, golf, horse racing, and tennis. Whether cheering from his living room or soaking in the electric atmosphere of a live event, Mike loved the thrill of the game and rarely missed an opportunity to tune in or attend. 

Beyond watching sports, Mike loved the adrenaline and camaraderie of demolition derbies and tough truck races. He spent countless hours in the garage working on his cars alongside family and friends. Nothing was more special to him than gearing up for a weekend derby or race, and his #53 showed up many times at the Marion County Fair.

Above all, Mike was a loyal son, brother, nephew, cousin and friend who brought warmth, humor, and fun wherever he went. He is survived and will be forever missed by his sister, Lee Ann Pfleider, as well as many loving cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.

In accordance with Mike’s wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held to honor him:

Mike loved a good party, and that is exactly how his family and friends intend to honor his memory one final time. All who knew and loved him are invited to come together, share stories, raise a toast, and celebrate a life well-lived.
