Mettie Z. Kennedy passed away on December 30, 2025, at The Meadows of Marion. Born in Findlay Ohio on December 3, 1941, to Marjorie E. (Rose) Brown and Paul C. Hosman. She moved to Upper Sandusky to marry and raise her children Jennifer Kennedy, Marion, Jeffrey Kennedy, Bucyrus, Mervin Scott Kennedy, Upper Sandusky and Corina Kennedy, Arkansas.
She worked at Black Hawk Industries in Upper Sandusky until their closing whereupon she was employed by Wyandot County Job and Family Services until her retirement.
She attended and was baptized at Community Christian Church in Upper Sandusky.
She enthusiastically played Bingo regularly and enjoyed exciting movies, Jaws being her favorite. She was a lover of pets having had both dogs and cats and caring for the chickens where she lived. A firm believer in deadheading and pinching back to improve blooming she had a green thumb with a special gift for finicky African violets. She had a legendary sense of humor and loved to play games
While she worked at Wyandot County JFS she earned her GED, she additionally earned her private pilot’s license both of which she was very proud.
She painted, with her Emmett Kelly sad clown series winning blue ribbons at the county fair.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Howard E. Hosman and Phillip C. Hosman, and beloved aunt (Clairie) Clara B. Schmitz O’dell.
She will be missed by her children; she also leaves her grandchildren, Karisa (Jeremy) Fallen, Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Drew (Odessa) Buchanan, Oklahoma, Payton Kennedy, Findlay, Ohio, Logan Kennedy, Upper Sandusky, Ohio, Wyatt Kennedy Upper Sandusky, Ohio, and her great grandchildren Lynox Fallen, Maveryck Fallen, Brynlee Fallen, Baker Norman, her brother’s children, cousins and longtime friend Mary Tiell.
A private memorial will be held at a later date.
