Linda Patricia Akers left this world and all that loved her on November 16, 2023, after two weeks in Marion General Hospital’s ICU.
The Doctors and Nurses fought to keep her with us, and we will be eternally grateful for the time they gave us. She had the opportunity to say “I love you” a few more times. She had four heart attacks 12 years ago and in the end was just too tired to keep going.
She married William Michael Akers on June 18, 1971, and for 52 years they were happily married.
They moved from Roanoke, Virginia to Columbus, Ohio in 1977 and to Marion, Ohio in 1978. Mike’s employer Norfolk and Western Railway brought them here.
Mike and Pat tried to do everything together and in 2001 became founding members of the Marion Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association. They also volunteered for the Palace Theater and Safety City.
She was preceded in death by her father Elisha Lee Williams, her mother Rosa Katherine Revis, and her sister Gay Fuller.
She is survived by her husband William Michael Akers, her son William David Akers, and her daughter Candace Michele Akers. Her grandsons William Brennan Akers and Brock Alden Akers, her granddaughter Brook Adele Akers, her nephew Anthony Eugene Fuller, and great niece and nephew Breanna Fuller and Brian Fuller.
It was her wish to have no funeral, no service, no flowers, no tears! The family requests that donations be made in her name to Homeless to Home Cat Rescue in Marion or to the Humane Society.
She believed in the Native American ideal that you treat all with respect and kindness. When you go, you leave no tracks.
Her ashes will be spread in the Blue Ridge Mountains where she was born.
