Obituary

Kenneth Raymond “Kenny” Baker’s story began on November 26, 1938, in Mansfield, Ohio, where he was born the youngest of five children to Freeman and Ozella (Kithcart) Baker. From an early age, Kenny brought energy and determination to everything he did—qualities that shone brightly during his years at Mansfield Madison High School, where his passion for football led him to set records and create lasting memories.

But of all the moments that shaped his life, one stood above the rest: meeting the beautiful redhead who would become his lifelong love. Kenny married Dorothy Montaque in 1957, beginning a devoted partnership filled with laughter, adventure, and unwavering commitment. Together, they built a life rich in simple joys—playing cards, camping under the stars, fishing, and traveling wherever the road would take them.

Kenny was a hardworking man who provided for his family with pride. He spent several years with Nickles Bakery, which led him to Marion, Ohio. There, he and Dorothy owned and operated the Green Camp Dairy Bar, a place that reflected their shared dedication and community spirit. His career later took him to Tappan Industries, opening new chapters in Houston, Texas, and Asheville, North Carolina. In retirement, Kenny and Dorothy settled in Homosassa, Florida, where they enjoyed a well-earned season of rest and reflection.

Family was always at the heart of Kenny’s life. He and Dorothy were blessed with three children: LoAnn Baker Burgess (Michael), Lori Kramp (Doug), and Kenneth Raymond Jr. “Buzz” (Missy). His legacy continues through his beloved grandchildren: Audra Parham (Mark), Andrea McGraw (Rory), Meagan Hill (Joshua), Josh Kramp (Amy), Dustin Kramp (Mia), Rebekah Polley, and Kent Baker (Jeanie).

Kenny’s love multiplied across generations, extending to his great-grandchildren—Tori Thomas (Ronnie), Ansley and Reese McGraw, Barret and Gunner Hill, Josiah and Elise Kramp, Carson and Liam Canterbury, Lincoln and Rosie Kramp, Hunter and Hinzley Baker, and Mallori Polley—and to his great-great-grandchild, Xavier Hollifield.

Kenny was proceeded in death by his parents, his siblings Jack, (Marge) Baker, Bob (Pat) Baker, Betty (Wendel) Smith, Dorothy (Raymond) Karsmizki, his daughter LoAnn Baker Burgess, and grandson Kent Baker.

To know Kenny was to know kindness, steady strength, and a genuine heart. He was a devoted husband, a proud father, and a deeply cherished grandfather whose presence brought comfort and joy to those around him. His life was not only measured in years, but in the love he gave so freely and the memories he leaves behind.

Kenny will be deeply missed by his wife, his children, his extended family, and a host of dear friends whose lives were made better by knowing him.

The family would like to thank the Wyndmoor of Marion, Ohio for the abundance of love, care, and friendships he received from the staff and residents, making it his home.

Donations can be made to Wyndmoor of Marion where Kenny enjoyed bingo, outings, and other events.
