John Eli Cox, a cherished member of his family and community, passed away on December 2, 2025, in Marion, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication. Born on April 26, 1950, in Carter County, Kentucky, Eli was a high school graduate who devoted a significant part of his life to his career as a long-term factory worker.
Eli was known for his loving nature and the boundless support he provided to those around him. He was often regarded as the glue that held everything together within his family. His friends and loved ones remember him as a good guy who was always willing to lend a hand, possessing a natural ability to fix almost anything that came his way.
In addition to his remarkable character, Eli had varied interests and hobbies. He found joy in collecting watches, guns, and knives, and he took great pleasure in working on vehicles. These pursuits were not just pastimes but reflections of his keen attention to detail and craftsmanship.
Eli is survived by his loving wife, Donna Jean Cox; his son, John Eric Bolander; his daughter, Amy Lynn Bolander; and his grandson, Johnathan Bolander. He also leaves behind his siblings: Lonnie Arvil Cox, Clinton Ted Cox, Adlene Wagner, Donald Oakly Cox, Phillip Harry Cox, Linda Fontain-Qualls, and Bobby Jo Cox.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Sophia Cox, his daughter Christy Crissinger, as well as several siblings: William Curtis Cox, Francis Cox, Charles Eddis Cox, James Ercil Cox, June Esther Cox, and Betty Gail Cox.
Eli's presence will be profoundly missed, and his memory will forever be cherished by his family and all who had the privilege to know him.
