Irma Virginia (Senek) Taylor

April 3, 1940 — April 8, 2023

Marion

Irma Virginia (Senek) Taylor passed away April 8, 2023, in Marion, Ohio.  Irma was born April 3, 1940, in Bellaire, Ohio, to Stanley and Virginia (Kotera) Senek.  The Senek family relocated to Newton Falls, Ohio, where Irma accomplished salutatorian of the 1958 graduating class of Newton Falls High School.

Irma married John A. Taylor on November 26, 1963, in Trumbull County, Ohio, and settled in her hometown to raise a family.  She worked at Ravenna Arsenal in supply services from 1968-1993. Irma had a life goal of wanting a college degree.  At 54 years old, she attended Kent State University and achieved an Associates Degree in Environmental Sciences.

Irma had several hobbies and pastimes she enjoyed; from collecting dolls and figurines, to playing bingo. She always looked forward to vacations in Vegas or Atlantic City with family and friends.  Our mom loved animals and the outdoors and could be found fishing or taking daily walks with her dogs.  She had a soft spot for collecting strays and abandoned animals. It wasn’t unusual to overhear her sweet-talking the four-legged orphans over her morning coffee in the wee hours while the house slept.

Irma was preceded in death by her parents Stanley and Virginia Senek, husband John A. Taylor, daughter Rhonda L. Taylor-Deal, and special friend, Chuck Gleason.

Mom is survived by three sons, a daughter, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren: James (Elizabeth) of Marion, Ohio, Michael (Karen) of Lancaster, Ohio, Gayle (Nik) Kinze of Corsicana, Texas, and John (Lori) of Muleshoe, Texas.

Irma is also survived by her beloved brothers and aunt: Dexter (Donna) Senek of Cortland Ohio, Sheldon (Patricia) Senek of Hilliard, Ohio, and Aunt Jan (Al) St. Clair of Leavittsburg, Ohio.

Services will be held April 21, 2023, at noon at the St Joseph’s Cemetery Memorial Chapel, 10500 Newton Falls Road, Newton Falls, Ohio.

Father David Merzweiler will be officiating the service with interment upon conclusion of the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests loved ones please consider donations to Gentiva Hospice, 1199 Delaware Ave. #102a, Marion, OH 43302.
