January 17, 1948 — October 6, 2023

Marion

Harrison Glen Holbrook (Glen), 75, of Marion, passed away on October 6, 2023 at Marion General Hospital.

He was born on January 17, 1948 in Inez, Kentucky to John and Iva Holbrook. Glen worked as a certified welder for the Marion Power Shovel. He also enjoyed driving for the railroad.

Glen married Gayla Hylton on December 21, 1971. Together they raised their family and spent time with friends. They also enjoyed many game nights with friends and family.

He loved to fish and watch football and wrestling. He even came up with his own cheesy snack recipes to enjoy during the games, lovingly called “The Grandpa Special.” Glen was an avid canasta player who loved playing fetch with the dogs.

Glen was a loving father and grandfather. He was a humble man dedicated to taking care of his family. He loved to tell stories that we believed and some we’ve yet to prove. Glen told many jokes and riddles. He was a selfless man who always thought about other people and treasured his family. Glen would sing “This Little Light of Mine” to end arguments and could always bring joy to any situation. He was a proud member of United Pentecostal Church of Marion.

Glen is preceded in death by his parents, John and Iva Holbrook; his sisters Susie McDavid, Linda Burke, Alene Elliott, and Audrey Young; his brother Claude Holbrook; his mother in law, Betty Hylton; and his brother in law, Bill Hylton.

He is survived by his wife Gayla Holbrook; children Melinda (Alva) Eaches, Glen Holbrook Jr., and Jon Holbrook; grandchildren Brittany and Brianna Eaches, Michael and Matthew Holbrook, and Jonathan Allen; and great grandchildren, Carter, Ezra, Octavia, Amayha, Zylah, and Kayson. He is also survived by his father in law, Ike Hylton, many brother and sister in laws, and nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank all the friends, family, church family at United Pentecostal Church of Marion, and hospital staff at Marion General Hospital for everything they have done.

At Glen’s request, he wished to have no service. A celebration of life will be planned in the future.
