Georgene Senters Irick, age 86, of Marion, went to her heavenly home with Jesus on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at home, surrounded by family.
Georgene was born in Martin, Kentucky March 6, 1939, to the late Carl and Ethel Senters. She attended Betsy Layne High School.
She is preceded in death by her husband Paul Irick, her parents, her brothers Fred, Bud, Willis, Bobby, Clyde, Curt, Irvin, and Grover, her sisters Norma, Ruby, and Clotine.
She is survived by her beloved daughter Paula (David) Gantt, her granddaughter Tracy (John) Thomas and grandson David Gantt, great grandchildren Ryleigh, Jaden, Hunter, and Ellie, and many nieces and nephews. Georgene married her high school sweetheart on January 18, 1958, and was happily married for 64 years.
As a devoted homemaker, Georgene dedicated her life to caring for her daughter, husband, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and home. She was blessed with good health to be able to care for her 4 great grandchildren and cherished every moment with them.
Georgene was the most stylish Granny around. She loved shopping for clothes, shoes, purses and jewelry. She was a lover of all cats. In her early days she was known for feeding all the strays in her neighborhood. In her later days she spent time on the homestead cuddling her 9 cats.
She enjoyed fishing with her husband and family. She loved spending time in her garden and pruning her flowers. She would spend her free time sewing and quilting, which brought great joy.
She faithfully attended and was a member of The First Freewill Baptist Church. The family plans to celebrate Georgene’s life privately to honor her wishes. If you would like to honor Georgene’s life, you may do so by donations or contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association.
