Esther Marie Starks

Esther Marie Starks, 84, of Marion, OH died Monday December 10, 2018 at Community Health Care. She was born March 25, 1934 in Lawrenceburg, IN to the late Owen and Goldie (Brightwell) Todd. On May 12, 1953 in Lawrenceburg, IN she married Marshall Booker Starks. He passed July 3, 2000. She was proceeded in death by two daughters; Mona Lisa Starks and Marsha Louise Starks. She had attended the Salvation Army and later joined Peace Baptist Church. She later attended Mt. Zion church with her husband Marshall. She was employed by Quaker Oats, nutrition aid and worked for several families doing house cleaning. She also was a foster mother for thirty children in the Marion area. Her house was an emergency home for Waddell Village. Esther loved her some Marshall and her family. She was always saying funny remarks with her legs crossed smoking her cigarettes. She enjoyed raising house plants and yard selling. She loved cooking, fishing, and dancing. She loved the Chicago Bulls and the Cincinnati Reds baseball team. Esther loved singing Gospel songs and reciting scriptures from the Bible. Matter of fact on Friday before she passed, she was singing at the facility. She was the life of the party there. She is survived by her children;  Margaret Braden of Marion, Marlene Brown of Mansfield, Melinda Howell of  Georgia, Marna Bradley of Columbus, Marshall (Junior) of Marion and Henry Sterling of Columbus; 15 Grandchildren, Carlos, Katrina, Christopher, Johnny, Cory, Danielle, Erica, Jason, Marshall III, Jordan, Atlantis, Aja, Henry Jr., Arlo and Hillary, and a host of great grandchildren; brother Perry (Ruth) Todd of Marion, sister Evelyn Titsworth of Cincinnati and two daughters in laws Christine Starks and Marilyn Sterling of Florida; one son-in-law Elisha Bradley of Columbus, Ohio. She was proceeded in death by four brothers; Maurice, Richard (Budd), Luther and Bobby; three sisters, Marjorie, Margaret, and Lucy; five brothers-in-law, Rev. Thomas Ganaway, George Starks, Lee Starks, George Titsworth, and Frank Hawkins; three sisters-in-law, Margaret,  Yvonne and Wilma and best friend Sarah Henson. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday December 18, 2018 at True Faith Church of God, 599 E. Fairground St., Marion, OH 43302 with visitation from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Pastor Mike Wade and Reverend Lee Starks officiating. Interment Chapel Heights Memory Gardens 2622 Marion-Upper Sandusky Rd, Marion, OH 43302
