Elizabeth Rowena Montis

December 21, 1941 — August 19, 2024

Elizabeth was born December 21, 1941 and went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 19, 2024 in Marion, Ohio.

She was married to her husband of 60 years Earle Montis on May 10, 1964

Elizabeth is preceded in death by both parents James Sutherland and Mary Pruett, brothers Harold, Wade, Bill and Homer Sutherland as well as her Son James Montis.

Elizabeth is survived by her husband Earle Montis, son Glenn (Annette) Montis, daughter Mary (Brian) Napper, grandchildren Thomas (Stephanie) Montis, Karrah Montis, Jimmy Montis, Adam Cox, Colton Riser and Breanna Napper, Great Grandchildren Emma Montis, Silas Montis, Dream Montis, Grant Litteral and Owen Litteral.

Elizabeth was born in Tazewell Virginia to James Paul Sutherland and Mary Jane Pruett. They moved to Ohio where she completed her schooling. Elizabeth graduated from Marengo High School in 1960. She settled with her husband Earle Montis some years later in the LaRue, Ohio area and lived there until a recent move to Marion, Ohio.

Elizabeth was a devoted Homemaker and mother of three. She not only loved her own children, but whomever they brought in the door with them. She was well known for her hospitality and often found herself feeding half the neighborhood kids. No one ever left her house hungry.

She was an avid gardener in her younger years, providing the majority of food for the family and was well known in the neighborhood for her beautiful flower gardens.

Visitation will be held on August 24, 2024 from 3-4pm at Shining Light Baptist Church 294 Mt. Vernon Ave., Marion, Ohio 43302, service to begin right after at 4pm with Pastor Gary Carr officiating.

After the funeral, a meal will be provided at the church. Please join us there to break bread and share fond memories of Elizabeth.
