Carl C. Mitchell “Mitch”, 86 years old, passed away on April 12, 2026 in his home in Marion, Ohio.

Carl lived a long, full life and was proud to share that he was born, raised and lived his 86 years in Marion, Ohio.

Carl worked 30 years for Ohio Edison as a lineman and working foreman. After his retirement, he didn’t idle well so decided to do something different driving semi-truck deliveries for a Columbus, Ohio trucking company for a number of years.

He was an avid bowler and served as the president of the Ruger Gun Club traveling and proudly displaying his collection at numerous conventions. Carl was a long-time member of the Marion Elks club and for a number of years could be found at the club every weekend. He enjoyed touring across the country on his Honda Goldwing, attending car races, coin collecting and photography. Carl’s biggest passion was cooking, creating a large library of cookbooks and recipes.

He is preceded in death by his wife Janice Mitchell, parents Joseph and Mary Mitchell, grandson Nathan Smith and brother-in-law Donald Lane.

He is survived by his sister Connie Lane, his daughters Kelly Spanninger (Eric), Wendy Mitchell and Holly Turner. Three grandchildren Lindsay Stephans, Justin Treu and Steven Turner. Great granddaughters Haleigh and Karleigh Stephans. Niece Lisa Steele (Randy) and nephews Joseph Lane (Rhonda) and Richard Thomas Lane.
