A “Welcome Home” Celebration took place in heaven for Adena C. Heckert (86) at 4:52am on March 16, 2021. Adena was a resident of New Washington for the past 25 years. More recently she lived at Magnolia Terrace Assisted Living Facility in Galion, Ohio.
Adena was born the tenth of thirteen children on May 14, 1934 to Rena and Mattie Chandler, in Lawrence County, Kentucky. She was a resident of Ohio and Crawford County most of her life.
Adena was employed by Galion Hospital in various capacities for 20 years. Her greatest joys came from being a faithful wife of 67 years, ferociously loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and homemaker. She enthusiastically shared and taught line dancing (her favorite hobby) locally, in Arizona, Florida, and to anyone who showed the slightest interest. She loved her church, the Bucyrus First Alliance Church.
She is survived by her husband, Lloyd, also of Magnolia Terrace; daughter Brenda (Scott) of New Washington; and two sons, Bruce (Mary Lynn) of Warren, Michigan, and Randy (Kathy), of North Canton; 10 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by two sisters, Ina Peffley (Mishawaka, IN) Janice Balliett (Bucyrus, OH) and two brothers, Ned Chandler (Powell, OH), and Brad Chandler (Geneseo, Illinois).
It is impossible to adequately express the family’s gratitude to the Bucyrus First Alliance Church, and especially to the incredibly competent and caring staff of the Magnolia Terrace Assisted Living Facility.
There will be no calling hours or funeral. A “Celebration of Life” service, open to the public, is planned for 3:00 pm, March 28th, at the Bucyrus First Alliance Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bucyrus First Alliance Church.
